How we put this review together
This review was researched, written and approved by the GoToBeach Morocco product team, using official Pickalbatros information, supplier details, current product knowledge and our Marrakech destination experience.
The property was previously known as Club Sangho Privilege before being taken over by Pickalbatros. It officially opened as Pickalbatros Sungo Club Marrakech on 19 May 2025.
Raşit, Özgür and Thomas visited the hotel on 1 May 2026. What we saw genuinely surprised us, because the old Club Sangho Privilege feeling had almost completely disappeared. The scale, the refreshed resort layout and the new pool areas made it feel like a very different product.
Pickalbatros Sungo Club Marrakech is therefore a newer product in the Marrakech market under the Pickalbatros name, so facilities, restaurant concepts, pool operation and seasonal activities can change. Please confirm the current details with us when you book.
Pickalbatros Sungo Club Marrakech is not the classic riad holiday, and it is not the polished Hivernage city-hotel experience either. It is a different type of Marrakech stay: a large, all-inclusive resort designed around pools, family facilities, entertainment and easy days under the Moroccan sun.
That makes it interesting. Marrakech is famous for riads, souks, rooftops and luxury city hotels, but not every UK holidaymaker wants to spend every hour inside the Medina. Some families want Marrakech culture nearby, but they also want a proper pool scene, food included, space for children, sports, activities and the simplicity of an all-inclusive hotel.
That is exactly where Sungo Club fits. If you want the atmosphere of Marrakech every day, stay in the Medina. If you want French-Moroccan polish and a central base, choose a hotel such as Sofitel Marrakech. But if you want a more relaxed, resort-style Marrakech holiday with children, this is the type of property that starts to make sense.
From Club Sangho Privilege to Pickalbatros Sungo Club
Many people who know Marrakech may still remember this property by its former name, Club Sangho Privilege. That is important, because older reviews, maps, transfer references and local conversations may still use the previous name.
Pickalbatros later took over the property and reopened it officially as Pickalbatros Sungo Club Marrakech on 19 May 2025. For GoToBeach clients, that means it should be treated as a refreshed Marrakech resort product under the Pickalbatros umbrella, rather than judged only by memories of the old Club Sangho Privilege.
This also explains why we are careful with the details. New ownership, refreshed facilities and a new operating style can make a real difference, but hotel services can still settle and evolve after opening. Before booking, we would check the latest room types, aqua park operation, restaurant concepts and family facilities.
When Raşit, Özgür and I visited on 1 May 2026, the change was obvious. We had known the property from its previous life, so the first impression was not just “this has been renamed”. It felt substantially rebuilt in character: larger, fresher, more resort-like and much more in line with what Pickalbatros usually tries to deliver for families.
The short answer
Pickalbatros Sungo Club is best for families and active travellers who want Marrakech with resort comfort. It is a strong fit if your priority is pools, all-inclusive ease, children’s facilities, sports and a more spacious holiday base.
It is less suitable if you want to sleep inside old Marrakech, walk straight into the souks, or feel the intimate character of a riad. This is not a Medina hideaway. It is a family-friendly resort near Marrakech, and it should be judged on that basis.
| Good for | Less ideal for |
|---|---|
| Families wanting all-inclusive ease | Couples wanting a small romantic riad |
| Children who want pools and aqua park fun | Guests who want to walk into the Medina every evening |
| Guests wanting space, activities and sports | Travellers looking for a quiet boutique Marrakech stay |
| Marrakech first-timers who prefer resort comfort | People who want a central Hivernage luxury hotel |
Location: Marrakech, but not Medina-style Marrakech
The most important thing to understand is the location style. Pickalbatros Sungo Club is in Marrakech, but it is not the same experience as staying in the Medina, Hivernage or Gueliz. The hotel is built as a spacious resort, not as a city-centre base.
This can be a good thing if you are travelling as a family. Marrakech can be intense with children: heat, traffic, noise, busy streets and lots of walking. A resort base gives you the option to explore the city when you want, then return to pools, food, entertainment and easier space.
For sightseeing, you should think of it as a hotel where transfers or taxis matter. If you want to go into the Medina every morning and every evening, choose a more central hotel. If you want a few Marrakech visits mixed with pool days, Sungo Club works much better.
| Location point | What it means |
|---|---|
| Marrakech resort setting | More space and facilities than a small city hotel or riad. |
| Medina access | Best handled by taxi, transfer or organised visit rather than walking. |
| Family practicality | A calmer base after busy sightseeing, especially with children. |
| Holiday rhythm | Pool days first, Marrakech sightseeing when you choose. |
What makes it different from a riad or city hotel?
The difference is the holiday rhythm. A riad is about atmosphere. A Hivernage hotel is about city comfort. Pickalbatros Sungo Club is about resort convenience.
You come here because you want everything in one place: pools, aqua park-style fun, dining, activities, sports facilities and space for families. That is a very different proposition from navigating Medina lanes with tired children after dinner.
This is why I would not sell it as “authentic Marrakech” in the same way as a riad. I would sell it as a practical Marrakech resort holiday. You get the city close enough to experience, but the hotel itself is built around easy days and family comfort.
Pools, aqua park and family fun
This is the heart of the hotel. Pickalbatros promotes Sungo Club as a large all-inclusive resort with pools, aqua park energy and sports facilities. That is the main reason to choose it over a riad or a traditional city hotel.
The central pool is one of the standout parts of the resort. It is large, open and immediately gives the hotel a proper holiday-club feeling. What also impressed us was the way the resort now uses the spaces behind the accommodation buildings, where quieter relax pools have been created. That gives the hotel more than one rhythm: lively family pool areas when you want energy, and calmer pool corners when you need a break.
Families should treat the pool and aqua park facilities as the deciding factor. If the children will be happiest with water slides, pool time, activities and a more playful resort atmosphere, Sungo Club makes much more sense than a boutique riad.
As always with aqua park hotels, check the current operation before booking. Slides, heated pools, indoor pool rules and seasonal opening times can vary, especially outside peak summer. We would confirm the latest details before committing your holiday.
Rooms and resort layout
The resort is spread across large grounds, so the room location can matter. Families may prefer to be closer to pools, restaurants or the main activity areas, while couples or quieter guests may prefer a calmer part of the property.
Room categories can change by supplier and season, so the sensible approach is to match the room to your group. Tell us the age of the children, whether you need interconnecting rooms, whether balcony space matters, and how close you want to be to the active areas.
| Room need | Ask us to check |
|---|---|
| Families with young children | Room location, bedding set-up and distance to restaurants or pools. |
| Larger families | Family rooms, connecting options or multiple-room arrangements. |
| Quieter stays | Rooms away from the busiest pool or entertainment areas. |
| Winter or shoulder-season stays | Current heated pool and indoor facility access. |
Food, drink and all-inclusive expectations
The all-inclusive concept is a major advantage for families. Marrakech is a superb food city, but eating out every night with children can become tiring. A resort-style all-inclusive gives you a simpler base: breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and snacks arranged around the hotel rhythm.
The resort is promoted with multiple dining options, including Moroccan and international styles. For many guests, that is exactly what they want: Moroccan flavours when they feel like it, and familiar options when the children are hungry and nobody wants another taxi ride.
My advice is to use the all-inclusive as your base, but still go into Marrakech for at least one proper evening meal or rooftop experience. Otherwise you may have visited Marrakech without really tasting the city.
Sports, activities and entertainment
One of the benefits of this type of resort is that the holiday does not depend only on sightseeing. Sports facilities, kids’ activities, entertainment and pool life give the day structure even when you decide not to leave the hotel.
This matters in Marrakech because sightseeing can be tiring. A morning in the souks followed by a pool afternoon is a much easier family rhythm than trying to make every day a full cultural expedition.
For teenagers, the sport and activity angle can be particularly helpful. Marrakech itself is fascinating, but not every teenager wants souks and palaces every day. A resort with activities gives the holiday more balance.
How it compares with Pickalbatros Aqua Fun Club Marrakech
Pickalbatros has more than one Marrakech family/aqua park product, so clients may naturally compare Sungo Club with Aqua Fun Club Marrakech. The easiest way to think about it is that both sit in the “Marrakech with pools and family fun” category rather than the classic city-break category.
If your priority is the biggest water-park style experience, Aqua Fun Club may also need to be considered. If you are looking specifically at Sungo Club, we would compare the current facilities, room options, pool operation, board basis and price before recommending one over the other.
This is exactly where a product specialist helps. The right choice is not always the hotel with the longest facilities list. It is the one that fits your children, your dates and how much Marrakech sightseeing you actually want to do.
Marrakech sightseeing from a resort base
If you stay at Sungo Club, I would plan Marrakech sightseeing rather than leaving it to chance. The best approach is usually one or two focused trips into the city: Medina, Jemaa el-Fna, Koutoubia, Bahia Palace, Majorelle Garden or a good rooftop dinner.
Do not try to turn every day into a city tour. The hotel works best when you allow resort days to be resort days. That is the point of choosing an all-inclusive property with pools and family facilities.
For many families, the ideal rhythm is simple: breakfast at the hotel, pool or aqua park in the morning, one half-day Marrakech outing, then back for dinner and an easier evening.
Who it’s for — and who it isn’t
Strong fit for
- Families who want Marrakech with pools, activities and all-inclusive simplicity
- Children who will enjoy aqua park-style days and a livelier resort atmosphere
- Guests who want space and facilities rather than a small Medina riad
- First-time visitors who prefer a comfortable base outside the city intensity
- Travellers combining hotel relaxation with selected Marrakech sightseeing
Less suitable for
- Couples wanting a romantic riad inside the Medina
- Travellers who want to walk everywhere from the hotel
- Guests looking for quiet boutique luxury rather than family resort energy
- Food-focused travellers who want to eat in the city every evening
- Anyone expecting a central Hivernage-style hotel experience
My honest verdict
Pickalbatros Sungo Club Marrakech is a smart choice if you understand what it is. It is not trying to be a riad, and it is not trying to be a sophisticated city hotel. It is a resort-style Marrakech base for families who want all-inclusive ease, pools, activities and enough distance from the busy centre to relax.
Our 1 May 2026 visit made me take the hotel more seriously than I expected. The old Club Sangho Privilege memory is not the right way to judge it anymore. The resort now feels much larger in ambition, with a strong central pool, additional relax pools behind the buildings and a clearer family-holiday identity.
I would recommend it most confidently for families who want to visit Marrakech but do not want the whole holiday to revolve around walking, taxis, bargaining and city noise. For them, a resort like this can make Marrakech much easier.

Booking & protection
Booking your Pickalbatros Sungo Club holiday
Low deposit: a deposit of just £30 per person, plus the cost of your flights, secures the holiday at the time of booking — flights are dynamically priced, so seats are confirmed straight away. The remaining balance (hotel, transfers and any extras) is then spread across instalments up to departure.
Financial protection: flight-inclusive package holidays booked with GoToBeach are ATOL protected under licence 11211. If you book hotel-only arrangements or non-flight services, different financial protection rules may apply. We will confirm the protection before you complete your booking.
Our advice: tell us the ages of the children, your travel dates, your airport and how much Marrakech sightseeing you want to do. We will check whether Sungo Club, Aqua Fun Club or a more central Marrakech hotel suits you better.
Frequently asked questions
Is Pickalbatros Sungo Club good for families?
Yes. Pickalbatros Sungo Club is best understood as a family-friendly, resort-style Marrakech hotel. It suits families who want pools, all-inclusive ease, sports, activities and a more relaxed base outside the intensity of the Medina. It is especially useful if children will want pool time and aqua park-style fun rather than daily sightseeing.
Is Pickalbatros Sungo Club close to the Medina?
It is a Marrakech resort rather than a Medina hotel, so you should expect to use taxis, transfers or organised visits for sightseeing. That is not a problem if you want pool days mixed with selected Marrakech visits, but guests who want to walk into the souks every evening should choose a more central hotel or riad.
Is Pickalbatros Sungo Club all inclusive?
Yes. The hotel is promoted as an all-inclusive Marrakech resort, which is one of its main advantages for families. All-inclusive details can vary by season, supplier and room package, so we always recommend checking the latest restaurant, bar, snack and drink inclusions before booking.
Is Sungo Club better than a riad in Marrakech?
It depends on the holiday you want. A riad is better for atmosphere, romance and old-city character. Sungo Club is better for families who want pools, activities, space and all-inclusive simplicity. If it is your first time in Marrakech with children, a resort like this may be easier than a traditional Medina riad.
Can GoToBeach help me compare Sungo Club and Aqua Fun Club?
Yes. Both hotels sit in the Marrakech family resort and aqua park category, but the best choice depends on dates, prices, room options, current facilities, children’s ages and how much time you plan to spend in the city. We can compare both options before you book.
Was Pickalbatros Sungo Club previously Club Sangho Privilege?
Yes. The property was previously known as Club Sangho Privilege before being taken over by Pickalbatros. It officially opened as Pickalbatros Sungo Club Marrakech on 19 May 2025, so older local references or reviews may still use the previous name. When Raşit, Özgür and Thomas visited on 1 May 2026, the hotel felt very different from its old version, especially because of the larger resort layout, the main pool area and the quieter relax pools behind the accommodation buildings.
Is my Pickalbatros Sungo Club holiday ATOL protected?
Flight-inclusive package holidays booked with GoToBeach are ATOL protected under licence 11211. ATOL protects against the financial failure of the package provider; it is not the same as travel insurance, so we still recommend arranging suitable travel insurance when you book.
Thinking about Pickalbatros Sungo Club?
Tell us your dates, departure airport, party size and children’s ages. We will check Sungo Club against other Marrakech family resorts and build the right package with flights, hotel and transfers.
