Adult hotels — hand-picked across Turkey, Greece, Malta, Egypt & Morocco

An adults-only hotel is a simple promise kept well: no children on the property, so the pool stays quiet and dinner runs at your pace. Telling a genuine one from a hotel that merely set a minimum age is what this page is for.

Every hotel below sits in our own live programme, and every package including flights is protected under ATOL licence 11211 — read how ATOL protects the money you pay us before you commit anything. Each property is visited by our own team and scored against our 22-point hand-picked inspection.

The standard

What makes a hotel a genuine adults-only choice

Plenty of hotels advertise an age limit; far fewer are built around adults. Four things our inspectors check on site.

  • The age rule covers the whole property. An adults-only pool inside a family resort is a different holiday, and we say which you are looking at.
  • Sound carries, so layout matters. We listen from the sunbeds: where the stage sits and how late the music runs decides restful versus merely child-free.
  • Dinner works without a queue. Grown-up resorts serve later and run à la carte restaurants that are genuinely bookable, not theoretically available.
  • Rooms are for two, not converted from four. Beds, bathrooms and balconies built for couples matter more than any headline facility.
Where to find them

Where to find them

It is not spread evenly. Turkey and Greece have the deepest choice, Egypt does it at scale, Malta does it small, and Morocco does something else entirely.

Turkey

The widest choice, and the most polished

Fethiye and its bays hold Liberty Lykia Adult, which runs ultra all-inclusive, and XO Cape Arnna Club Hotel for over-16s. Along the coast, Marmaris and Turunç give you Verde Beach Hotel. For something more designed, Adam and Eve Hotel in the golf resorts of Belek is the country's best-known grown-up address.

Greece

Small, characterful, mostly on Crete

Greek adults-only tends to be boutique rather than vast. the resort of Hersonissos has Castello Infinity Suites; quieter the bay at Agios Nikolaos has the adults-only Apollon Hotel; and the Chania side of the island holds the adults-only residence collection at the Avra Imperial residences. On Kos, D'Andrea Lagoon All Suites runs bed and breakfast.

Browse every island in our Greece holiday collection.

Malta

A short list, and that is the truth

The Maltese adults-only list is genuinely small: Riviera Spa Resort above the bay at Mellieħa, and the over-16s Seaview Hotel for over-16s in St Paul's Bay and Qawra. Both run bed and breakfast, which suits an island where you eat out anyway.

Egypt & Morocco

Red Sea scale, Marrakech calm

Egypt does adults-only bigger and for a longer season: Pickalbatros Blu Spa Resort in Hurghada, plus Albatros Royal Grand in Sharm El Sheikh — winter sun with a warm sea, which the Mediterranean cannot offer in January. Morocco is the outlier: in the city of Marrakech, Jaal Riad Resort is a riad-style stay rather than a beach resort.

Choosing

Choosing the right one

Adults-only covers three quite different holidays, and knowing which you want shortens the list fast.

The quiet week

You want to do very little, well. Look for smaller properties with a spa and no nightly show — the Cretan and Maltese options suit this, and hotels with a serious spa are the natural next filter.

The special occasion

Honeymoon, anniversary, a birthday with a nought on the end. The room matters more than the resort: suites, private terraces, a restaurant worth dressing for. Our selected luxury hotels overlap heavily.

The sociable one

Adults-only need not mean silent. Turkish ultra all-inclusive resorts run bars, pool activities and evening entertainment for a grown-up crowd — busy, but nobody is queuing for the slides.

Honestly

What's included — and what isn't

Board basis is where these holidays most often disappoint, because the same phrase means different things in different countries.

Usually included

  • Flights and airport transfers on every package
  • Meals and local drinks at Turkish and Egyptian resorts
  • Sunbeds, parasols and towels
  • Your ATOL Certificate at booking

Depends on the hotel

  • À la carte dining — often one visit per stay
  • Imported spirits and bottled wine
  • Spa access as opposed to spa treatments
  • Late checkout, granted more readily than at family resorts

Not included

  • Malta's adults-only hotels are bed and breakfast
  • Travel insurance, arranged separately
  • Resort taxes payable locally
  • Excursions, car hire and anything booked locally

On ATOL, plainly: when your booking includes flights it is protected under our licence, number 11211. Not every service sold on this site falls under that scheme — a hotel-only stay does not. Your ATOL Certificate lists exactly what is covered.

Before you book

What to check before you book

  • Confirm the exact minimum age. Thirteen and eighteen are very different holidays; we confirm each hotel's current policy in writing.
  • Check the board basis, not the brand. A famous adults-only name in Malta is still bed and breakfast; an unfamiliar one in Fethiye may be ultra all-inclusive.
  • Match the season to the sea. Book the Mediterranean between May and October, and the Red Sea when everywhere else has gone cold.
  • Ask what is next door. A quiet hotel beside a busy strip is quiet only until about ten at night. Our specialists have stood on those balconies.
  • Arrange insurance the day you book. Cancellation cover only works if it starts early — we can point you towards arranging suitable travel insurance.
Questions

Frequently asked questions

What age counts as an adult at these hotels?
It varies by property and we never guess. Across this list the thresholds run from 13 to 18 — several Turkish and Greek hotels state 16, the Maltese Seaview Hotel is 16 plus, and the residence collection at Avra Imperial on Crete is 13 plus.
Are adults-only hotels always all-inclusive?
No, and assuming so is the commonest mistake. Turkish and Egyptian adults-only resorts are usually all-inclusive or ultra all-inclusive. Maltese ones run bed and breakfast, and several Greek hotels expect you to eat in the village.
Which country is best for a first adults-only holiday?
Turkey, because it has the widest choice and the most complete all-inclusive product, so you can compare like with like. Greece suits somewhere smaller with a village walk, Malta suits short breaks, and Egypt is the answer for winter warmth.
Can we get an adults-only room in a family hotel instead?
Sometimes, and the difference matters. Some large resorts run an adults-only wing or pool inside a family property, which gives you quiet by day but not a quiet hotel. We always label which of the two a property is.
Do adults-only hotels cost more?
Not inherently. They are often smaller, which lifts the price per room, but they avoid the school-holiday peaks that push family resorts up. May, June, September and October cost less and give a better week.
